The meeting covered various aspects of the organization's activities, including preparations for upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and administrative updates. Members discussed art-related programs, workshops, and tours, as well as plans for promoting artists' work and engaging with the community. The group also welcomed new members, addressed organizational roles, and explored potential collaborations and enrichment activities for future meetups.

Vonn led our members in a rhythm jam while reciting Edward Lear's poem "The Owl and the Pussycat,". The activity aimed to remind everyone of the importance of joy and beauty in art, even in challenging times. Ze emphasized the defiance of joy in the face of heaviness and invited the group to experience fun and silliness together. 

Ze also introduced the Pottery Masters of Tonalá tour, coming up towards the end of July, and the Carlos Sergoviano (Mexican Modern Art Curator) event for August.

Business 

Open Board Positions

Social Media Manager - ALC member, Gail Early, has notified the board of her interest in the Social Media Board of Directors position. If there are any other members interested in the position, please email artiistsoflakechapala@gmail.com or speak to a board member. 

The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all Monthly & Annual meetings of the ALC and the Board of Directors.  These minutes shall be collected and become a permanent record of the activities of the Association. The collected minutes shall be readily available to any Board member at any time.  If the Secretary is unable to be present at a meeting, s/he may designate another person to take minutes.

Migracion Project 

Vonn discussed the migration project committee, which explores migration stories through various art forms. The group meets to share personal experiences and discuss how art can express migration..

Artists who are interested in contributing to this initiative are encouraged to volunteer. To volunteer, please contact vonn.new@gmail.com. Come to the Jully 11th 2:00 pm meeting to join the fun at LCS Lake Chapala Society, under the blue awning, and potentially try the art technique neurographia.

Additional volunteer options are posted on our website at https://www.artistsoflakechapala.org/volunteering. 

Hunter Johnson has an opportunity for volunteers to assist with the LCS Children’s Art Program. Also, Hunter is seeking bilingual adults to assist in the youth photography group, as well as donations of cameras that allow for adjustable aperture and f-stop settings. Enrichment Opportunites

Exciting News: Stephanie Schneiderman has agreed to be our Meetup & Discussion Group Volunteer. Thank you, Stephanie, for your time and expertise. We all look forward to what is to come.

Past June 8th - The Ajijic Malecon Expo was a success.  Barbara Logan and Claudia Essenburg introduced our organization to newcomers and answered their questions. Thank you both for being our ambassadors; we couldn’t have asked for any better.

Past - 6/25 Amphibious Bus adventure into the lake in Joco and lunch at Sabors Restaurant was very successful.  We had 31 participants. There has been a request to schedule another event for August.

The tour of Tonala's pottery techniques is priced at 1,900 pesos, including lunch and transportation. The tour will visit workshops of five master potters, including Luis Cortez, Ismino Ramas, Jesus Diaz, Serapio Mendrano, and the Pajaretto family, showcasing various traditional techniques such as burnishing, Petitillo, and Barro Canello. The tour will demonstrate both pre-Hispanic and post-Hispanic pottery methods, with participants having the opportunity to observe and learn from each master's unique approach to ceramic art.

August 15th, 12:00 to 1:30, Tequila History and tasting, with an additional select dining option: At Paninio’s, Carretera Chapala-Jocotepec 91A

Watch for the All Call to Artists to submit Tequila-related art for a two-week exhibition at Panino’s restaurant in San Antonio Tlaycapan, where 15-20 artists can display their work on easels or tabletops, with no cost for artists but requiring a QR code for art information. The exhibition will run from August 8th to the 22nd. More information will be rolling out soon.

En la reunión se trataron diversos aspectos de las actividades de la organización, entre ellos los preparativos para los próximos eventos, las oportunidades de voluntariado y las novedades administrativas. Los miembros debatieron sobre programas relacionados con el arte, talleres y visitas guiadas, así como sobre planes para promover el trabajo de los artistas y fomentar la participación de la comunidad. El grupo también dio la bienvenida a nuevos miembros, abordó las funciones de la organización y exploró posibles colaboraciones y actividades de enriquecimiento para futuras reuniones.

Vonn dirigió a nuestros miembros en la recitación del poema de Edward Lear, “The Owl and the Pussycat”, animando a los participantes a unirse y añadiendo ritmo e improvisación. La actividad tenía como objetivo recordar a todos la importancia de la alegría y la belleza en el arte, incluso en tiempos difíciles. Zi hizo hincapié en el desafío de la alegría frente a la pesadez e invitó al grupo a experimentar juntos la diversión y la tontería. Zi también presentó la visita guiada Maestros alfareros de Tonalá, que tendrá lugar a finales de julio, y el evento de Carlos Sergoviano (conservador de arte moderno mexicano) para agosto.

Puestos vacantes en la junta directiva

Gerente de redes sociales: Gail Early, miembro de ALC, ha comunicado a la junta su interés en el puesto de gerente de redes sociales de la junta directiva. Si hay otros miembros interesados en el puesto, envíen un correo electrónico a artiistsoflakechapala@gmail.com o hablen con un miembro de la junta. 

El secretario levantará acta de todas las reuniones mensuales y anuales de ALC y de la junta directiva.  Estas actas se recopilarán y se convertirán en un registro permanente de las actividades de la Asociación. Las actas recopiladas estarán a disposición de cualquier miembro de la junta en cualquier momento. Si el secretario no puede asistir a una reunión, podrá designar a otra persona para que levante acta.

Proyecto Migración 

Vonn habló sobre el comité del proyecto Migración, que explora historias de migración a través de diversas formas de arte. El grupo se reúne para compartir experiencias personales y debatir cómo el arte puede expresar la migración.

Se anima a los artistas interesados en contribuir a esta iniciativa a que se ofrezcan como voluntarios. Para ser voluntario, póngase en contacto con vonn.new@gmail.com. Venga a la reunión del 11 de julio a las 2:00 p. m. para unirse a la diversión en LCS Lake Chapala Society, bajo el toldo azul, y posiblemente pruebe la técnica artística de la neurografía.

Voluntariado

Hunter Johnson ofrece a los voluntarios la oportunidad de colaborar con el Programa de Arte Infantil de LCS. Además, Hunter busca adultos bilingües para ayudar en el grupo de fotografía juvenil, así como donaciones de cámaras que permitan ajustar la apertura y la velocidad de obturación. Oportunidades de enriquecimiento

Noticias emocionantes: Stephanie Schneiderman ha aceptado ser nuestra presidenta de Oportunidades de Enriquecimiento. Gracias, Stephanie, por tu tiempo y experiencia. Todos esperamos con interés lo que está por venir.

El pasado 8 de junio, la Expo del Malecón de Ajijic fue todo un éxito. Barbara Logan y Claudia Essenburg presentaron nuestra organización a los recién llegados y respondieron a sus preguntas. Gracias a ambas por ser nuestras embajadoras; no podríamos haber pedido nada mejor.

Pasado - 25 de junio: la aventura en autobús anfibio por el lago en Joco y el almuerzo en el restaurante Sabors fueron todo un éxito.  Contamos con 31 participantes. Se ha solicitado programar otro evento para agosto.

El recorrido por las técnicas de alfarería de Tonalá tiene un precio de 1900 pesos, incluyendo almuerzo y transporte. El tour visitará los talleres de cinco maestros alfareros, entre ellos Luis Cortez, Ismino Ramas, Jesús Díaz, Serapio Mendrano y la familia Pajaretto, y mostrará diversas técnicas tradicionales como el bruñido, el petitillo y el barro canelo. El tour mostrará métodos de alfarería tanto prehispánicos como poshispánicos, y los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de observar y aprender del enfoque único de cada maestro en el arte cerámico.

15 de agosto, de 12:00 a 13:30, Historia y degustación de tequila, con una opción adicional de cena selecta: En Paninio's, Carretera Chapala-Jocotepec 91A

Estén atentos a la convocatoria para que los artistas envíen obras relacionadas con el tequila para una exposición de dos semanas en el restaurante Panino's de San Antonio Tlaycapan, donde entre 15 y 20 artistas podrán exhibir sus obras en caballetes o mesas, sin coste alguno para los artistas, pero con la obligación de proporcionar un código QR con información sobre las obras. La exposición estará abierta del 8 al 22 de agosto. Próximamente se dará más información al respecto.
