Social greeting to each other
Presenter: Phillipa Love: Shared info about the San Antonio Tlyacapan - Going through its history book. Now available in English. The book is intended to preserve the unique culture and traditions of SAT and is written in the first person by long-time residents of SAT. Vicky Corona is preserving the history through paintings of the local culture. She was also key to starting the museum with contributions from people’s homes. There will be a reception in the SAT Plaza on February 21st at 4 pm. Signed copies of the book in either Spanish or English will be available at the reception for 250 pesos.

(portalacceso@yahoo.com). There are over 90 artists participating. It’s an opportunity to visit artist studios and public spaces. The cost is 50 pesos for the map, which will be available at each site.

Member Survey - Vonn New
Please watch your email inbox for a new survey questionnaire. We last conducted a survey in 2024 to find out what artists wanted and needed from our group before we were officially formed. We want to know how we’re doing and what you want to see going forward.

ALC website https://artistsoflakechapala.org is continuously being updated. Any members who wish to have a profile page, please email artistsoflakechapala@gmail.com, and Vonn will contact you with further instructions. This is a complimentary benefit of ALC membership. You will receive two URLs, one in English and one in Spanish, to promote your art. Each profile includes links to your bio and portfolio. You can post up to 10 pieces. Currently, there are 16 profiles on the website. ArtConnection is also offering a 10% discount to members with a biography on the website.

Artists of Lake Chapala (ALC) thrives because of the creative, generous, and community-minded people who make up our vibrant organization. As a fully volunteer-run organization, we’re grateful to everyone whose time and talent helped shape January’s events into lively gatherings that brought us together through art.
Look at what we jointly accomplished at the Codgers/Dodgers show:
Administrative forms - Thank you, Vonn, for the many hours creating all the online and paper forms, tags, and information sheets
We registered 69 artists in total
We hung 159 pieces of art
We hosted the reception for approx 200 visitors.
We sat the show that brought in an additional 50 visitors per day

Art Market - Elena Valdivia
Our January Art Market kicked off the year with an energy all its own. The day felt like a living snapshot of talent and imagination. Vendors and shoppers alike left buzzing with inspiration and special little valentines gifts. Behind the scenes, our volunteers powered every moment. They organized, welcomed, and kept the atmosphere warm and inviting from start to finish. Their dedication didn’t just support the event; it shaped the experience. Your energy can help as well. January set a high bar, and we’re excited for everything this momentum will spark next.
The next Art Market will be held on February 21st. A request was made to NOT parking in front, except to drop off art.
Anne shared that ALC is requesting to add demos and presentations in the future, pending approval.

Publicity - Claudia Essenburg
ALC is currently advertising the Ojo, Guadalajara Reporter, and Laguna/Lakeside. ALC is included in the calendar sections as well. There are also occasional articles highlighting ALC. Word of mouth remains the most effective way to spread the word about what's happening at ALC. It was suggested that members remember to update those who are returning or who have been ill on changes of location, etc.

She is often behind the scenes coordinating meeting notes, sharing updates, and supporting the board so that our events, markets, and programs have a strong foundation. Her focus on details keeps Artists of Lake Chapala running smoothly, so we don’t get lost in our individual processes and filled calendar.

Stephanie shared that she is in the process of putting together a Textile Appreciators learning opportunity.

Misc.: Pat shared that the Ajijic Cultural Center is planning to install an elevator. Donations are welcome.
Kudos to Lake Chapala Society for all the way it supports ALC. The LCS website experienced a cyber attack and they are working to resolve the issues. A reminder that LCS has a 30% discount for those who are 80+ years old.
The Noris Biner Expo is concluding on February 5th. It will then be moving to Guadalajara.

Compartió información sobre San Antonio Tlayacapan — revisando su libro de historia, ahora disponible en inglés. El libro tiene como propósito preservar la cultura y tradiciones únicas de SAT y está escrito en primera persona por residentes de larga trayectoria en la comunidad. Vicky Corona está preservando la historia mediante pinturas de la cultura local. También fue clave para iniciar el museo con contribuciones provenientes de los hogares de la gente. Mercado de Arte - Elena Valdivia
Nuestro Mercado de Arte de enero inauguró el año con una energía propia. El día se sintió como una instantánea viva de talento e imaginación. Tanto los vendedores como los compradores se marcharon llenos de inspiración y con pequeños regalos especiales de San Valentín. Tras bambalinas, nuestros voluntarios impulsaron cada momento. Ellos organizaron, dieron la bienvenida y mantuvieron el ambiente cálido y acogedor de principio a fin. Su dedicación no solo apoyó el evento, sino que también dio forma a la experiencia.
