Social greeting to each other
Presenter: Mario Ramirez & Gustavo: Our featured speaker was local artist and ALC member Mario Ramirez. He and his husband Gustavo spoke about Mario’s upcoming Art Expo in the Ajijic Cultural Center. There will be a reception for Mario’s art on Saturday, June 27th at 5 pm at the Cultural Center in the Ajijic Plaza. It will include a Ribbon Cutting, Mariachi, Ballet Folklorico and a social gathering at Cola de Gallo Bar & Bites Hidalgo 17, Ajijic, to follow the reception at 7 pm.
Also they both shared their vision to entice tourism in our area through art related activities. Below are two things they are currently working on with the Ajijic municipality. One is exploring a location for an Art Fest in Ajijic, perhaps on the Plaza or the Malecon. This will be an opportunity for all local artists to participate. The target dates are during the World Cup sometime between June 11 and July 19 when the games are in Guadalajara. The expo and Art Fest are two ways they are working to promote Ajijic and our local artists. They will be reaching out to ALC for support once they have more information. One other way they want help now is for our members to take pictures of local murals with any background information you can gather, so they can use them to make a map showing murals throughout Lakeside. More information will be provided about the way you will be able to share them.

Any members who wish to have a profile page, please email artistsoflakechapala@gmail.com, and Vonn will contact you with further instructions. This is a complimentary benefit of ALC membership. You will receive two URLs, one in English and one in Spanish, to promote your art. Each profile includes links to your bio and portfolio. You can post up to 10 pieces. Currently, there are 16 profiles on the website. ArtConnection is also offering a 10% discount to members with a biography on the website.

From art markets to meet‑ups, February was filled with opportunities and connections. None of it would have been possible without the dedication of our members and volunteers. Your energy and artistry transformed each gathering into a celebration. Together, we’re not just hosting events, we're building a welcoming space where creativity flourishes and the joy of artis strong. We’re excited to carry that spirit forward into the months ahead.
This month’s Art Market was full of activity with artists and shoppers keeping the day lively and engaging. A heartfelt thank‑you to everyone whose efforts helped the event come together so smoothly. Your support made all the difference.

ALC is currently advertising the Ojo, Guadalajara Reporter, and Laguna/Lakeside through April. ALC is included in the calendar sections as well. There are also occasional articles highlighting ALC. Word of mouth remains the most effective way to spread the word about what's happening at ALC. It was suggested that we keep some of the little handouts in our purse, cars, or packets and look for places to post them in our community when we are out and about.

Community Enrichment Events
Stephanie Schneiderman had her first Textile Appreciators meeting called Ladies and Gents of the Cloth. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 19, at La Nueva Posada, 11:30-12:30 meeting, followed by lunch. This month's topic will be on Ikat and the Mexican Rebozo.tiastephanie@gmail.com She will also be hosting a child’s art event at her home from 4-6 pm on March 10th. Jill Flyer and Robert Ashin would like to start a Photography Club in Ajijic for photographers of all levels. An initial get-together will be held on Thursday, March 12, 5:00 - 7:00 at Mario’s 2 restaurant, in the Hotel Casa Yollotzin, 22 Hidalgo, Ajijic. March 21st Lagografías A collective show of graphic arts.
March 27-29 special event "Manatee" with a children' s art show coming from the Guanal University Museum of Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche. We are planning to have a conference about biodiversity and the importance of protecting the wildlife, as well as honoring the memory of the manatees that were brought to Chapala in the 60's. They were killed by the fishermen because the population was not informed about what they were.
Michael McManman is excited about creating a Doggie Art/Fashion Show including animal art in November, hopefully at LCS. He is creating an ADHOC committee to explore opportunities and work out the details. He wants to involve pet stores and adoption centers for sponsorships and prizes. He would like to donate proceeds to local adoption centers.
Kathie Karancz is interested in creating a miniature art show. More details to follow.
ALC is creating an adhoc guide for people who want to share their ideas for further art related activities.

Nuestro ponente destacado fue el artista local y miembro de ALC, Mario Ramírez. Él y su esposo Gustavo hablaron sobre la próxima Expo de Arte de Mario en el Centro Cultural de Ajijic. Habrá una recepción para el arte de Mario el sábado 27 de junio a las 5 pm en el Centro Cultural en la Plaza de Ajijic. Incluirá un corte de listón, mariachi, ballet folclórico y una convivencia social en Cola de Gallo Bar & Bites, Hidalgo 17, Ajijic, después de la recepción a las 7 pm.
Además, ambos compartieron su visión de atraer turismo a nuestra zona mediante actividades relacionadas con el arte. A continuación se mencionan dos proyectos en los que actualmente están trabajando con el municipio de Ajijic. Uno es explorar una ubicación para un Art Fest en Ajijic, quizá en la Plaza o el Malecón. Esta será una oportunidad para que todos los artistas locales participen. Las fechas tentativas son durante la Copa Mundial, entre el 11 de junio y el 19 de julio, cuando los partidos se jueguen en Guadalajara. La expo y el Art Fest son dos maneras en que están trabajando para promover Ajijic y a nuestros artistas locales. Se estarán acercando a ALC para pedir apoyo una vez que tengan más información.
Otra forma en la que desean ayuda ahora es que nuestros miembros tomen fotos de murales locales con cualquier información de contexto que puedan reunir, para que puedan usarlas en la elaboración de un mapa que muestre los murales en toda la ribera. Se proporcionará más información sobre la manera en que podrán compartirlas.

ALC se anuncia actualmente en Ojo, Guadalajara Reporter y Laguna/Lakeside hasta abril. También aparece en la sección de calendario. Ocasionalmente se publican artículos sobre ALC. El boca a boca sigue siendo la forma más eficaz de difundir las actividades de ALC. Se sugirió guardar algunos de los folletos informativos en el bolso, el coche o en paquetes y buscar lugares donde distribuirlos en la comunidad cuando estemos fuera.

21 de marzo: Lagografías, una muestra colectiva de artes gráficas.
27-29 de marzo: evento especial “Manatí” con una exposición infantil proveniente del Museo Universitario Guanal de Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche. Estamos planeando realizar una conferencia sobre biodiversidad y la importancia de proteger la vida silvestre, así como rendir homenaje a la memoria de los manatíes que fueron traídos a Chapala en los años 60. Fueron asesinados por los pescadores porque la población no estaba informada sobre lo que eran.
Michael McManman está entusiasmado con la idea de organizar un desfile de arte y moda canina, que incluirá arte animal, en noviembre, con la esperanza de que se celebre en LCS. Está creando un comité ad hoc para explorar oportunidades y concretar los detalles. Desea involucrar a tiendas de mascotas y centros de adopción para obtener patrocinios y premios. Le gustaría donar las ganancias a centros de adopción locales.
Kathie Karancz está interesada en organizar una exposición de arte en miniatura. Próximamente se darán más detalles.
ALC está creando una guía ad hoc para quienes deseen compartir sus ideas para futuras actividades artísticas.
