New attendees included Terry Langford who is from California and does photography and is an art collector and Mary Ruziche who is a fiber artist and runs a sewing group of women of Chapala. Also new was Nan Gorman who is a fused glass artist and taught middle school art for 32 years.

Rachel is a ceramic artist who treats clay as if it were fabric. Rachel will be showing us examples of her fascinating hybrid art form.
This presentation was postponed because the artist’s work was stolen.
Art Market - Elena Valdivia
Elena is traveling. Vonn reports:
First Art Market of the season will be Sept 19
Some changes this season:
Small spaces will still be $200mx, but large spaces will now be $400mx
We will have markets Sept - March on the third Saturday of each month. We will not have an April Market in 2027.
We will have free art experiences for the public. These will be one hour or less introductory workshops, preferably with a hands-on component by our members. If you’d like to volunteer to present one of these, please email artistsoflakechapala@gmail.com. You do not have to be a vendor to present a workshop.
Appreciation to BJ who has been instrumental in managing the Art Market in the past.
Introducing a new team of volunteers who will be helping Elena with organizing: Thelma, Guillermo, and Silvia.
Registration will open this week for Sept - Dec. Elena is in Italy so please be patient, she will contact you in 3-4 days.

Volunteering
We have a great need for volunteers. Especially with the art markets starting again, we will need greeters, vendor support and relief, cleanup crew, and more.
In addition, the members of the Board are also volunteers. We will be having elections in November. If you are interested in running for a board position, please consider attending our open meetings on Zoom and contacting existing board members about learning more about their responsibilities.

Project Update - Strut Your Mutt
Claudia Essenburg and Michael McManmon report for the ad hoc committee on their work to organize this event.
The event will be on October 14th from 1 -3 pm at the outside auditorium on the Ajijic malecon. There will be a dog parade with prizes for costumes. There will be an art exhibit of 10 artists displaying art about dogs. There will be space for 20 vendors and 6 sponsors. There will also be live music. The goal is to sell 200 tickets. Proceeds will benefit local rescue centers and ALC. There will be dogs available for adoption and the goal is to have 5 dogs adopted. We are still waiting on the permit from the city of Chapala. Vendors will have space for a 6 foot table and must have their own setup. The cost is 300p and the items for sale should be dog related.
Please ask veterinarians, pet stores and others you know to be sponsors.
Volunteers to be committee members and volunteers on the day of the event are needed.

The Artists of Lake Chapala have been provided VIP access to the summer edition of the Enart expo. We'll be pre registered and will be escorted in upon arrival. Cost per person: 800 pesos

Invitation to Join the Official Delegation of Credentialed Artists of San Antonio Tlayacapan
The Delegación de San Antonio Tlayacapan, in collaboration with the Museo Comunitario, is pleased to announce the formation of an Official Delegation of Credentialed Artists representing our community.
This initiative is intended to promote and strengthen the visual arts and fine crafts of San Antonio Tlayacapan while providing new opportunities for local artists to share their work with the public.
Members of the delegation may have the opportunity to:
Exhibit and sell their artwork at regularly scheduled monthly exhibitions in the Plaza Principal of San Antonio Tlayacapan.
Represent the community at art fairs, cultural festivals, and exhibitions hosted by other municipalities throughout Jalisco.
Participate in cultural and community outreach activities.
Offer art and craft instruction to community members through low-cost educational workshops, as programs are developed.
Artists accepted into the delegation will be eligible to receive an official Artist Credential issued by the Government of the State of Jalisco, recognizing their participation as representatives of the artistic community of San Antonio Tlayacapan.
Eligibility: Applicants must be practicing artists or artisans whose primary residence is in San Antonio Tlayacapan.
Artists who are interested in participating or obtaining additional information are invited to contact us. Mercado de Arte - Elena Valdivia
Elena está de viaje. Vonn informa:
El primer Mercado de Arte de la temporada será el 19 de septiembre.
Habrá algunos cambios esta temporada:
Los espacios pequeños seguirán costando $200 MXN, pero los espacios grandes ahora costarán $400 MXN.
Los mercados se llevarán a cabo de septiembre a marzo, el tercer sábado de cada mes. No habrá mercado en abril de 2027.
Ofreceremos experiencias artísticas gratuitas para el público. Se tratará de talleres de introducción de una hora o menos, preferiblemente con una actividad práctica dirigida por nuestros miembros. Si desea ofrecerse como voluntario para impartir uno de estos talleres, por favor envíe un correo electrónico a artistsoflakechapala@gmail.com. No es necesario ser expositor para impartir un taller.
Nuestro agradecimiento a BJ, quien ha desempeñado un papel fundamental en la gestión del Mercado de Arte en el pasado.

Voluntariado
Necesitamos contar con voluntarios. Especialmente ahora que se reanudan los mercados de arte, requeriremos personas para recibir a los visitantes, brindar apoyo y relevo a los vendedores, realizar tareas de limpieza, entre otras funciones.
Asimismo, los miembros de la Junta Directiva también son voluntarios. En noviembre celebraremos elecciones. Si le interesa postularse para un cargo en la Junta, le invitamos a asistir a nuestras reuniones abiertas por Zoom y a contactar a los miembros actuales para conocer mejor sus responsabilidades.

Actualización del proyecto: Strut Your Mutt
Claudia Essenburg y Michael McManmon informan, en nombre del comité ad hoc, sobre los trabajos de organización de este evento.
El evento tendrá lugar el 14 de octubre, de 13:00 a 15:00 horas, en el auditorio al aire libre del malecón de Ajijic. Habrá un desfile canino con premios para los mejores disfraces. Se contará con una exposición de arte en la que 10 artistas mostrarán obras relacionadas con los perros. Habrá espacio para 20 vendedores y 6 patrocinadores, además de música en vivo. La meta es vender 200 entradas; lo recaudado se destinará a centros de rescate locales y a ALC. Habrá perros disponibles para adopción, con el objetivo de lograr que 5 de ellos encuentren un hogar. Aún estamos a la espera del permiso por parte del Ayuntamiento de Chapala. Los vendedores dispondrán de espacio para una mesa de 6 pies (aprox. 1,80 metros) y deberán traer su propio equipo de montaje. El costo es de 300 pesos y los artículos a la venta deben estar relacionados con los perros.
Por favor, inviten a veterinarios, tiendas de mascotas y otros conocidos a participar como patrocinadores.
Se necesitan voluntarios tanto para integrar el comité organizador como para colaborar el día del evento.

Convocatoria para Integrar la Delegación Oficial de Artistanos Acreditados de San Antonio Tlayacapan
La Delegación de San Antonio Tlayacapan, en colaboración con el Museo Comunitario, tiene el agrado de anunciar la creación de la Delegación Oficial de Artistas Acreditados de San Antonio Tlayacapan.
Esta iniciativa tiene como propósito promover y fortalecer las artes visuales y las artesanías de nuestro pueblo, al tiempo que brinda nuevas oportunidades para que los artistas locales den a conocer su obra y representen a nuestra comunidad.
Las y los integrantes de la delegación podrán participar en:
- Exposiciones y venta de obra en un tianguis de arte mensual en la Plaza Principal de San Antonio Tlayacapan.
- La representación de San Antonio Tlayacapan en ferias, festivales culturales y exposiciones organizadas por otros municipios del estado de Jalisco.
- Actividades culturales y de vinculación con la comunidad.
- La impartición de talleres de arte y artesanía dirigidos a la comunidad a un costo accesible, conforme se desarrollen estos programas.
Las personas que participen podrán recibir una Credencial Oficial de Artista expedida por el Gobierno del Estado de Jalisco, que las acreditará como integrantes de la Delegación Oficial de Artistas de San Antonio Tlayacapan.
Requisitos: Podrán participar artistas y artesanos cuya residencia permanente sea en San Antonio Tlayacapan.
Invitamos cordialmente a todas las personas interesadas a solicitar más información y expresar su interés en formar parte de este importante proyecto, cuyo objetivo es fortalecer la presencia cultural y artística de nuestro pueblo y proyectar el talento de nuestros creadores dentro y fuera de nuestra comunidad.
